Volunteer Weekend #1 (10/18-10/19) THANK YOU to all of our volunteers who spent last weekend laying brick, ridding the site of large rocks and digging footings for the benches. An extra special thank you to Councilman Chris Beauchamp for devoting his weekend and his expertise to help us.
Volunteer Weekend #2 (10/25-10/26) - Another huge THANK YOU to all of our volunteers (ages 8 to 92) who spent last weekend spreading loam and mulch, laying bricks in the seating area and planting 160 shrubs! Without everyone's help, this project could not be successful.
A big thank you goes to the Woonsocket fire fighters who spent their days off laying brick in order to help us finish the pathway. (It's done!)
10/29/14 The flagpoles are up!
Volunteer Weekend #3 (11/1 - 11/2) Neither rain nor snow nor 50 mph winds nor frigid conditions can stop our dedicated volunteers from working hard to spread loam, rake mulch, make cement and get our benches assembled and installed. Thank you!
11/4/14 Our dedicated volunteers are working hard to move the construction along!
11/5/14 - Thank you to our volunteers, including landscapers and firefighters, who helped to lay the sod! The process began at 7 am and the majority of the grass was in place by 9:30 am. Amazing! Thanks also to J. Drake Turf Farm for their help with this project.
11/7 - Thanks to Erin Joyce at Murray Monuments for installing our beautiful monument on such a cold, blustery day!
11/8-11/10 Volunteers help with final touches in order for us to be ready for the big dedication ceremony! It was nice to see so many visitors, who came to find their brick or bench, or who simply came to enjoy the new park! Thanks to the Burrito Company for surprising us with lunch for the volunteers!
11/11/14 Dedication Day! Thank you to the hundreds of people who came out to attend the Dedication Ceremony and Veterans Day Observance at the new UVC Armed Forces Park! Thanks also to all those who made the day such a success! Thank you to Mr. Tom Ward from the Valley Breeze, who provided a majority of the photos from this special day.
