Thank you for visiting our website devoted to the maintenance and enhancement of the Armed Forces Park in Woonsocket, RI. This park is dedicated to the men and women of our community who served our country in times of peace and war, and especially to those who gave their lives in that service.
With the sponsorship of the United Veterans Council of Woonsocket, the support of the City of Woonsocket, and under the leadership of Eagle Scout Christopher Lepine and Gold Award Girl Scout Jennifer Lepine, this park was built on a half-acre lot on Davison Avenue in Woonsocket, adjacent to the entrance of the Blackstone River Bikeway and the Rivers Edge Sports Complex. This park was dedicated on Veteran’s Day, November 11th, 2014, and will stand as a lasting tribute to the service, dedication and sacrifices of our community’s veterans.
We are pleased that Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt and Lt. General Reginald Centracchio (Ret.) served as this project's Honorary Chairpersons.
The park provides a permanent home for the city’s veteran ceremonies and observances, and will be the site of planned future monuments. In addition, informational plaques educate visitors about the many veterans monuments located throughout the city.
How can you help continue this park's great success?
The veterans park includes a central monument, an extensive paved brick walkway, benches, flagpoles, signs and plaques. Needless to say, the construction of this park was a huge undertaking, but with the volunteerism and financial support of the people and businesses of our community, this park will continue to be a fitting memorial to our veterans - past, present and future.
